Barry Powless of the Onondaga Nation is featured as one of the outstanding Haudenosaunee lacrosse players. Barry was an All-American atttackman at LaFayette HS and later the first alumni Head Coach, winning lacrosse titles as an Onondaga Warrior/Redhawk, a North Shore Indian, a Furgus Thistle, a New Westminster Salmonbellie, a Tuscarora Arrow, a Vancouver Adnac and professional titles with the Buffalo Bandits and and as a Head Coach of the Rochester Knighthawks.

The Redhawks concluded their 2011 Can-Am season in Newtown with a 16-13 loss in game 3 of the 2nd round of the playoffs. Onondaga started off strong jumping out to a quick 3-1 and a lead 5-4 after the first period. The next period saw both teams trading goals with Newtown up 10-9 at the end of the two. It was all Golden Eagles in the third, taking a four goal advantage through much of the period.

Onondaga's 18-13 game 3 victory over Newtown has been declared null and void for illegal bench personnel. Game 3 will be replayed on Fri., July 29 at Gil Lay Arena at 8:30 pm. If necessary, Game 4 will be at Onondaga on Sat., July 30 at 8pm and Game 5 back at Newtown on Sun., July 31 at 3pm. |

The Can-Am semi-finals heated up this weekend as defending Can-Am Champions the Onondaga Redhawks faced the 2011 top seed Newtown Golden Eagles.

The Redhawks will host The Newtown Golden Eagles in Game 2 of the best of 5 series Saturday July 23rd at 7pm.
The Redhawks defeated the Rochester Greywolves 2 games to 1 in last weekend's series. The Redhawks look to continue on in the Can-Am playoffs versus the undefeated and first place Newtown Golden Eagles. (note: Friday nite the Redhawks travel to Newtown Friday July 22nd for game 1 and Sun July 23rd for game 3) |
