Neal Powless earns All World Honors
REDHAWK Neal Powless took a brake from Can-Am action to represent the Haudenosaunee during the 2002 World Games in Perth, Australia. For his efforts, Neal was awarded to the prestigious ALL World Team for attack. Neal led the Iroquois against host Australia as they battled for the bronze medal. Although Australia won 12-11, Neal Powless' play impressed the selection committee.
The Iroquois Nationals attack brought together three scorers that quickly came together. Neal, Gewas Schinder and Delby Powless gave most teams match up difficulties. "Each team would play us differently. Some would pressure one of us one game, which would create opportunities for my teammates." retorted Neal. "We all played well together."
At the closing ceremonies, Neal was not expecting his named to be called. "I knew I played well and gave my all" said Neal, "But I was not ready for this."
